Law in a nutshell: Whats international law?
We all know the way that criminal law or civil law is portrayed in the media and tv shows, and how almost anyone can recognize a jury trial. But what's beyond that? Is there a law that applies to everyone regardless of the country? Is there any law besides Better Call Saul?
The international law owes his name to one of the greatest minds of the 19 century Jeremy Bentham, he defined the international law as the the body of legal rules, norms, and standards that apply between sovereign states and other entities that are legally recognized as international actors.
Law is like people, is constantly evolving and for that reason the definition of Bentham was replaced by a number of others that come after him. But if someone in the street comes to you and asks, what is international law? You can say to him that public international law covers relations between states in all their forms, from war to satellites, and regulates the operations of the many international institutions.
