Molotov the history of a deadly drink
Where does the name come from?
The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact was a treaty between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union where they see eye to eye and firm an non agression treaty which involved dividing half of poland for each party, the Russian diplomat that helped to make this deal was called Vyacheslav Molotov. Both Stalin and Hitler were satisfied with this and Poland suffered a lot on account of this. In this pact they also marked distinctives zones of influence over europe such as Lithuania or Estonia, but the most important country of this drink's history who saw itself affected by this pact was Finland.
Between 1930 and 1940 took place in Finland what is called the "Winter War", a war very special and particular where a tiny nation such as finland caused the soviets plenty of loses and only ended up losing nine percent of his territory. The Finns had to get creative in the defense of their territory while the war was happening and used this special drink to ambush and burn the advancing Russians.
The name of the drink is born in this period of time the defender called this the "Molotov Koktail", making reference to our old Vyacheslav. But why? Because Vyacheslav claimed that bombing the Finns whas "Humanitarian aid", the Finns nicknamed the bombs that fell to them "Molotov bread baskets", mocking Vyacheslav the Finns promised to give them something to drink in return to the food and the name of the cocktail was invented
